My birthday…
May 3, 2007I had a very mellow day. I have mixed feelings about having a birthday.
1. I am not afraid of getting older.
2. I like birthday cake (though I didn’t get any.)
3. I like it when people call, email, comment on my blog, etc. (Thanks by the way!!)
4. I hate feeling like I am expecting people to call, email, comment…and they don’t.
5. I like gifts.
6. I like unexpected gifts.
7. I hate it when I expect gifts and don’t get them. Then I get mad at myself for expecting them.
8. I can only celebrate birthdays in the following years: 2009, 2010, 2015, 2020, 2021, 2026, 2027, 2032, 2037, 2038…etc.
9. Birthday are all about the kids. Even as an adult, it is all about the kids. The best part about my birthday was when I asked Sierra where her and Madeleine should take me to dinner. We went to Red Robin. She immediately told the waitress it was my birthday and then they both laughed when all of the waiters came and sang. They both helped eat my ice cream sundae. I almost cried. I missed Tony (hint about #8.)
10. Maybe celebrating a birthday 1 day out of the year is too much pressure. Maybe I need a whole week of celebrating or a whole month or a whole year…ha ha.
Thanks everyone for the well wishes!
I might take a break from blogging/internet and knit/crochet stuff for awhile as I am developing some hand strain…burning/crushed glass feeling in the palm of my hand.
Edited to add: about #8, those are the years my birthday falls on a weekend and we could have my birthday as a family event, with Tony. Why am I so sentimental about a birthday? I don’t know.
Also, my hand is feeling so much better today. That is the first time I have had that happen. I guess it goes to show you that I am not immune to repetitive injury, even though I have strong hands.
*hugs* Take a break and rest sometimes that is all the hand pain needs.
Glad your birthday was good.
I understand the whole anticipation thing and yet you don’t know why you have the anticipation. It gets me every year.
I don’t get the thing with Tony-does your birthday fall on weekends those years?
Yes, birthdays should be a week long thing. They are at our house!

Dang, I missed it. I’m sorry! Happy belated Birthday!
Belated Happy Birthday! Ditto on points 1 to 7 above. And curious about point 8. Hope your hand recovers soon {hugs}
How did I miss it? (Oh yeah – I’m brain dead these days – I forgot.) A belated happy birthday!
Tony’s working on your B-day other years???
Belated Happy Birthday!!! I’m sorry your DH wasn’t around to celebrate with you.

PS. I really can’t remember a good birthday after I became an adult. I do the expectation thing too & am always disappointed. You’d think I’d learn!
Happy Birthday!
(And I still don’t get number 8.) lol
Happy Belated Birthday, Wendy! Sounds like it was a nice one.
Happy belated Birthday Wendy! I hope you had a great day!
Happy Belated Birthday!!!!
I completely agree with #’s 1 – 7. Take a breather and I hope your hand feels better soon!
Happy Birthday! Birthdays just aren’t as much fun when you’re an adult. Wait until you’re my age!
Happy Birthday Wendy. RR is delish. Sounds like you and girls had fun with a capital F. I agree, #8 still confuses me. Deneen’s comment though about weekends might be spot on though. Hope you will be clearing up the mystery.

Happy Birthday to YOU!
I understand about the birthday anticipation and let down…just because we are adults, doesn’t mean our day should mean any less to us. I have always had a stinky bday. It comes with having it right after the holiday season, everyone is too pooped to care; and combination gifts are too common. *ick* Red Robin is yummy! Sorry that Tony wasn’t there o share it with you. My Dh hasn’t been home on birthdays for YEARS now, heck… birthdays, holidays, anniversaries…it stinks but it is what it is. I always make sure the Dh and the kids birthdays last 1 full week. Just because that’s how I believe it should be! Continue you Birthday celebration!!!
{{hugs}}
Happy Birthday to you, Wendy!!!
Have a wonderful day and a great happy year!
Happy Belated Birthday!
Wishing you all the best and many more!
Happy belated birthday, sorry I missed it, I was somewhere on the I80, glad you had fun with the girls.
