Kool-Aid Results Part 2

September 5, 2005

The one on the left is sectioned into fours, and dyed purple, green, blue, orange

grape
lemon lime
Radical Rasberry (blue color)
Orange

The one on the right is
3 Berry Blues
3 Strawberries
3 Artic Apples (kind of a milky green color)

I used the microwaveable method listed on this website. I have figured out that you need to wrap up the color you want to protect really well with plastic wrap, first (maybe even before you put the dye on the other colors.) I am going to play with this technique more.

  2. Love the colors! I have plans to do some more dying soon too (meaning sometime before christmas rofl) I have some wool I plan to dye once I get all the ummm veggie matter out of it, and as soon as the craft shop has fishermans wool again I’m going to get as much as I can get my hands on… oh yeah and I have a bunch of roving too lol. I need to do another koolaid run too.

I find that being on my feet for a while kills my back too. (but yet I am participating in a 24 hour marathon Friday rofl! I won’t be on my feet the whole time though.)

  3. What beautiful colors! I’ve done a little bit of Kool-Aid dyeing, but I don’t know how much more I’ll do. My problem was making hanks of yarn out of the LB Fisherman’s Wool. I was so happy to see that the Knit Picks wool is already in a hank!

By the way, nice blog! I’ll be sure to check back later.

  4. Beautiful colors, it makes me want to get my hands into dying! Just have to find the wool, and wait for a day the windows are open to minimize the sheep butt smell.

  5. Groovy colors! I really need to try the Kool-Aid dye method…add it to my list of stuff to try.

  6. Great colors! I have never tried dying before but it’s on my lit of things to do…long list of things…lol. Anyway Deneen said that the pattern she used for my belt was a scarf pattern from Knit Pixie, it’s a free one. Just thought I’d let you know 🙂
